Where Is Maya?

Maya loves to hide throughout the house. On several occasions she's managed to scare us silly. Throughout the day I'll ask, "Where is Maya?" and Isa will reply, "I don't know!" After about a 5-10 min Maya-Hunt we'll find her hiding in a far corner of a closet, in my craft room, in a laundry basket, underneath our dining room table, behind curtains, covered up in Bella's bed, lying in a bathroom tub, in daddy's office or simply behind doors.  We've caught on to all her tricks and her favorite places so she pulled a new one on me the other day.
The trick was - it was just too easy.
OH Maya, I can just see it, you're going to be my special child.
The one who will bring me gray hair and sleepless nights.
I LOVE YOU, my brown-eyed girl.

Splishy Splashy Pad

A summer favorite along with this...
this has been a major hit this summer.
This see-saw is amazing! It not only goes up and down but it also spins.
The fact that I can transport this in and out of the house throughout the day makes for
one happy mama and two happy chickadees.

Zoo Fun.

Let's play Catch Up! Last week was full of Zoo Fun. Isabel attend her first Summer Camp! She participated in the OKC Zoo's 3 yr. old "Lions, Tigers and Bears. Oh My!" program. This was the first time I had ever left her in the care of strangers. I was really nervous as to how she would take it or behave while in a foreign setting. She did magnificent. Her teachers loved her.

She loved the idea of transporting a lunch bag around and got a kick out of "saving" some of her food for later. I don't know what that was all about but whatever. I packed all of her favorites so I'm assuming she was in no hurry to eat it all because when we'd arrive home the first thing she wanted to do was finish her lunch. Funny girl.

While Isabel was busy enjoying and exploring with animals, Maya & I got to spend some girl time. I really enjoyed having alone time with my littlest girl. Scott decided to take a day off and join in on some Maya time. We had a great time loving and spoiling this girl! She is growing up so fast! Ugh, I don't like that at all!

Peacocks and Rhinos seem to be amongst her favorite. Have you ever seen a white peacock?

We were happy to have him spend a workday having fun with Us.

The girls had a great week of Zoo Fun!
Luckily for Us, the zoo fun doesn't end here. Scott's Aunt Sissy was sweet to gift the girls a Zoo Pass! Thank you very much Aunt Sissy! We are looking forward to using this ALL year long!

34th Birthday Weekend

34.
I'm thirty-four years old.
WOW!
All I can really say about it is, that I welcome my new year with a great big smile. I have lots to be thankful for.
Thirty-four doesn't scare me. Really, aging has never scared me. I've always felt comfortable in my own skin no matter what age.
Scott likes to refer to me as, "Just like fine wine, you grow better with the years". If he says so, I believe it. In the end, his opinion is the only one that truly matters :)

For my 34th he treated me to weekender down in Sulphur, Oklahoma. We stayed at this lovely Bed & Breakfast.

It was beautiful and peaceful. It was the perfect birthday gift.

During our stay I was able to relax, sleep, enjoy their spa services and indulge in their good food. The food was absolutely phenomenal!

We left there feeling reenergized and refreshed.

At 34, I love where I'm at in life, whose in my life, what I have in life, what I don't have in life, the direction we're headed in life and absolutely comfortable and confident in my own skin. Living Life. Feeling Life. Loving Life.
Cheers to my 34th! There's lots to smile about!

Thanks Babe for peaceful weekender and to my In-Laws for keeping our girls so that Scott & I could enjoy some time together.

Park Fun

Now that we have beautiful weather I put forth effort in doing the simplest things that bring us the most fun. In this case, that would be making trips to the park before 10am! Early morning seems to be the best time to be at the park. The climate is great and we have the entire jungle gym to ourselves. Nothing puts a great big smile on my face than seeing these two giggle, play and chase each other though out the park. Fun times.

OH Maya, one day you shall smile for the camera.

Mini-Vacation

I think it's safe to say that we've found our favorite family getaway destination. The Great Wolf Lodge. And to be more specific, the GWL in Grapevine, Texas. We first visited the GWL-Kansas City last fall which rendered lots of fun for the entire family that we decided to give the Grapevine location a shot over the Memorial Day weekend - which also marked our wedding anniversary. Woot! Woot! 6 years! This year we decided to forgo a Jamaican vacayand instead spent our 6th anniversary with our two little ladies. My parents along with my brothers joined in on the fun; GREAT fun for all.
If anyone is considering make a trip to the Great Wolf Lodge and can't decide between the two closest locations, this is why we prefer the Grapevine location over the Kansas City
-larger resort hence more rooms
-larger indoor water park. spacious without the feeling of being overcrowded.
-seven water slides and the slap tail pond with 3ft. waves (great for prepping the girls for the ocean)
-larger outdoor water park. two water slides
-more fun and comforts, very accommodating for all age groups
-good restaurants
-friendlier staff
-their bracelet system - serves as entry to water park, room key and with the added ability of "charge to room" if needed.

Overall, we loved it and highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a mini vacation.
I only took two pictures during our entire stay, I feel terrible. I have got to do a better job at capturing memories :( In my defense, we were busy having fun with our little girls. We simply love seeing them smile and watchingthem enjoy life.

Play dates

We LOVE everything there is to love about play dates. We love hosting them as well as being guests. No matter the size or the place, they're our absolute favorite. We've been extremely lucky in finding a great group of kiddos and wonderful mamas to become good friends with. Despite the fact that not one single family lives in Prague, we still put forth effort in meeting once a week (at least) to let the kiddos play. Okay, who are we kidding, we love having Mommy talk too! We met our wonderful friends through our Kindermusik program in Shawnee. This has been a wonderful program for our little family. The program has helped Isabel and Maya tremendously in their developments and its allowed me to meet some wonderful stay-at-home Mamas.
In my Summer 2013 Bucket List I mentioned how I'd like to host a play date once a month at our house, so far I've stayed on top of it:)
For the month of May we hosted a Painting Play Date. The children got to play with paint, learn how to mix colors and explore different painting tools. Lots of fun!

No matter how neat the project, nothing beats outdoor fun. Thank goodness for the great outdoor living space! What kid doesn't enjoy running freely, playing some good ol' fashioned hide and seek? These kids, together, have more energy and momentum than an Oklahoma tornado!

Here you have our M&M's (Maya and Marie)exploring and learning the world around them.

Sitting here blogging and glancing through images makes me realize that we're slowly setting our roots here in this small town. The place where we will raise our girls and make wonderful memories; this is our home.

My two loves

My loves!

What I love the most about Isa right now...
Her politeness
Her love for princess dresses
Her taste in music
How sociable she's become
How she enjoys playing video games with her dad
That she still naps
Her desire to learn
Her eagerness to teach her sister everything she knows
That she compliments me every time I dress up
How she tells me she loves me everyday
How she must tell her daddy every morning that "you always comes back"
How she loves Fabuloso in her potty.
(I mean, how cool is it not to be able to pee in purple toilet water?)
How she loves Pistol Pete
That she loves to host play dates
Her thoughtfulness for others
Her creativity
Her interest in "workbooks"
How she can't see herself without her sister
How she can't live without her pink bear

What I love the most about Maya right now...
Her sweet voice
Her sweetness
How contagious her laughter is
Her admiration for her sister
How she says Mami
Her facial expressions
How she sings, Rain Rain Go Away!
How she terrorizes every room she walks into
How she asks that I chase her with a blow dryer
How she loves to dance to Sophia's intro
How she yells with excitement, Phia! Phia!
How excited she gets when Daddy comes home
Her dance moves....hilarious!
How she loves a challenge
How she compliments herself
How she's everyone's fan
How intelligent she is
Her love for food
How she hates going to bed without her sister
How fearless she can be
How she loves for all of us to dance together
(Oh yea, we host dance parties in the living room weekly!)

Nothing melts my heart more than watching my two loves love each other.
No matter how crazy these two drive me at times, I couldn't live without them.
They are the best thing that God could've blessed us with.

Spice in our Life

I love this quote. This quote can be applied to many aspects of life but today I'm applying it in my kitchen :)
I love spicy food. I enjoy the variation of taste that spices bring out in foods. Nothing screams my name out more than a fully colored, spicy dish :)
Mexicans love to use the basic, jalapeños and cilantro. For color we use tomatoes and onions. In.every.thing! That's standard so when in doubt, you should always revert to that. And I always do.
Today the girls are feeling a little under the weather - mild cold with severe grumpiness The forecast is that of rain and chilly winds so this mama is making them a traditional Mexican soup. Lentil Bean Soup - my favorite and to everyone's surprise, theirs too!
These beans alone are tasteless so all I do is throw in the Mexican basics. Yep, jalapeños and all. Add a little salt and a dash of this, another Mexican favorite when making soups...
And you're done.
Every Mexican has this in their pantry, I can assure you that :)

My soup is ready in no time and all I have to do now is wait for lunch to roll around.
¡Buen provecho
(spanish for bon appétit)

What is your favorite spice?

Quote Junkie

I love reading blogs. Whether they're personal blogs, crafty blogs, educational blogs, whatever! I love others' ideas, creations or motives. One idea that I absolutely love is that of sharing quotes (wink, Karie). You know the ones that you constantly see throughout Facebook and Pinterest. I find myself reading every single quote that comes across my newsfeed and saving images onto my photo libraries. So, I will steal my good friend's idea and share quotes I feel inspire and motivate me to move in the direction I want to go as an individual, a wife and a mother.
So first up is this one...
....because we all have difficult people in our lives :)

A Splash of Spring

This year I'm bringing Spring indoors! I have grown tiresome of all the rich dark colors that flow throughout our home. Can anyone say, depressing? Don't get me wrong, I love dark rich colors when it's 40 degrees outside. When I can curl up in my Dara & Co. blanket and sip on some hot tea. But, I find it extremely hard to enjoy spring days when our home still showcases fall and winter decor. This year I'm changing that. My life needs color and LOTS of it! I mean, who doesn't love a splash of color?!
My colors of choice are blues, greens and yellows. I have added accents in these colors throughout the house. The first area to take a splash of spring was my bedroom. I love jumping into a bed that feels very welcoming no matter the season, so it felt right to start here.

The bed feels fresh and welcoming of an afternoon siesta. Yeah Right! Who am I kidding, not with a three and a one year old.

Next is this accent piece of a staircase. I found this piece while in Las Vegas this past month at Bellagio's Giardini Garden Store, which of courses sells garden inspired decor. I found the cute spring gift boxes there too. The staircase sits on a chest of drawers and brings the feel of fresh garden flowers indoors. Freshening.
Next up is this yellow planter.

This is my favorite! Mainly because I found this in the discount corner at Pottery Barn. It's calming, colorful, fresh and simple. It sits in a corner of the bedroom. I think this really brings the outdoors, indoors. Looking at this picture confirms my desire in ripping out this carpet and replacing with a nice wooden floor. A project in the making :)
Moving on to the entry way. No big change here, just filled my glass hurricanes with spring fill.

The last area to receive a little splash of spring was the kitchen. I simply added green bushes above several cabinets.

My favorite accent piece in the kitchen is this blue, greenish, yellow platter.

I also picked this piece up at Giardini. It's unique in the fact that its handcrafted and imported from Italy. I hope this is an item that one of my daughters will cherish and showcase in their home years after I'm long gone. It truly is beautiful piece.
I am currently working on a spring wreath and a few other pieces so anticipate a following post. I hope everyone enjoys Spring as much as we do around here!
